No matter who you are or where you are in your journey, moving your body will benefit you in multiple ways. Physical activity can boost energy, improve your sleep quality, and support your overall health and body weight.

There are many physical benefits to adding in exercise and movement to your lifestyle. Our organs and bodily systems benefit greatly from physical activity. The cardiovascular, digestive, muscular, nervous, lymphatic, respiratory, and skeletal systems all benefit in a variety of ways from moving our bodies.
Our emotional health is improved by adding in exercise as well. When you exercise, your body produces “feel good” endorphins which can help you manage stress and can reduce depression and anxiety. Movement also can increase your self-esteem and give you a greater confidence.
Physical activity also offers many cognitive benefits, including boosting intelligence, improving memory, it may delay or slow Alzheimer’s disease, and reduce the risk of developing dementia.
Although much of the research focuses on the physical, mental and emotional benefit of physical activity there is one other aspect. Self-connection is enhanced allowing you to feel more present in your body. This self-connection can help you make choices that are more in line with your personal needs and values.
Physical activity doesn’t require a specific space or significant time commitment or intensity to allow you to benefit greatly from adding it into your lifestyle.
Whether you choose to walk in the neighborhood, ride your bike in the park, walk the dog, do an exercise video at home, or join the gym you will reap the benefits of adding this into your daily life.
Reach out and find what brings you joy and excitement so that you will continue to move your body. If your exercising with other people and enjoy spending time with them you will also benefit from which nourishing your relationships and social life.
